On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the amazing achievements of Gertrude Bacon which include:
- In 1909, at Reims she was the subject of the first illustration of a woman on board an aeroplane
- In 1912, at Windermere she was the first woman to fly in a hydro-aeroplane
- In 1920, at London she was a guest at a dinner given for Pioneers of British Aviation.
