In late November 1910, Oscar Gnosspelius tested his hydro-aeroplane Gnosspelius No. 1 just south of Rawlinson Nab. Gnosspelius lived nearby at ‘Silverholme’ during 1909-1925.

This photo of Rawlinson Rab was amongst those taken on 15 July 1912 by Gertrude Bacon, when she became the first passenger to be flown a complete circuit of the lake.

The photo at the top of this page was taken from Waterhen.
